Lee Cole Memorial Match 2025: A Powerful Day of Rugby, Remembrance and Community

Rugby For Heroes is proud to reflect on another unforgettable Lee Cole Memorial Match, hosted by the fantastic Llantwit Fardre RFC and contested against a formidable Army Masters side. As always, the occasion was about far more than the final score — though the rugby itself delivered drama right until the very last second.

In a fiercely competitive and respectful encounter, the Army Masters edged a narrow 19–17 victory, scoring late to seal the match just before the final whistle. It was a true battle between two committed teams, played in the right spirit and worthy of the name it honours.

Honouring Lee Cole’s Legacy Through Rugby

The Lee Cole Memorial Match holds a special place in the Rugby For Heroes calendar. It is a day dedicated to remembering Lee Cole, a much-loved friend whose passion for rugby, camaraderie and service continues to inspire everything we do as a charity.

Each year, this fixture brings together veterans, serving personnel, families, supporters and the local rugby community, united by shared values of teamwork, resilience and remembrance. These matches are a powerful reminder of how rugby can connect people, support mental wellbeing, and keep memories alive.

Community Spirit at Llantwit Fardre RFC

We are incredibly grateful to Llantwit Fardre RFC for hosting the match and welcoming everyone so warmly. The club provided the perfect setting for a day filled with competitive rugby, shared laughter, and meaningful reflection.

From the players who put their bodies on the line, to the supporters who cheered from the sidelines, and the volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes — every contribution helped make the day truly special.
