Mike Tindall and Olly Morgan are among the players who will be turning out for the ’2012 Rugby for Heroes and Barclays Quiz Night’ at The New County Hotel in Gloucester on March 7.

Rugby for Heroes are looking for teams from Gloucester and rugby fans to enter into the annual charity quiz.

Gloucester full back Olly Morgan will be the quizmaster along with other Gloucester players and all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Rugby for Heroes charity.

The event, which is supported by the Southgate Street branch of Barclays bank, will see 15 teams consisting of five people pitted against eachother.

Barclays matches every pound raised on the night and last year the event raised over £6000.

The evening will consist of an auction and raffle in aid of the charity.

The cost of entering a team for the quiz is £100 for five people, which will also include a curry meal with meat and vegetarian options.

Working in partnership with its chosen charity partner Remount , Rugby for Heroes involves Premiership rugby clubs, players and the rugby community to raise funds and assist former servicemen and women in the transition from military to civilian life and re settlement into the community.

It also helps and supports them in retraining, assisting in finding new careers as well as providing support for them to overcome post operational stress disorder, (POSD) and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Rugby for Heroes CEO Alan Lamb, whose son Ryan Lamb, previously played for Gloucester Rugby Club said: “Last years quiz was a huge success and we raised over £6000.

“We want this year to be an even bigger success and encourage all local businesses and rugby fans in Gloucester to enter a team and come together to support this worthy cause, have a great laugh, enjoy themselves and meet some of the players.”

Patron Mike Tindall MBE said: “Gloucester has a long standing tradition supporting its rugby and the military.

“For every pound raised at this event, Barclays Bank will match fund pound for pound so all the support we can get will help make a difference and contribute to help our servicemen and women rehabilitate back into civilian life after their military service has ended.

“Rugby For Heroes supports them in their hour of need.”

IT has been a long, hard road In recovery for former soldier Jamie Cooper; but he is now back on track after getting a helping hand from Rugby for Heroes.
Jamie, who at I8 was the youngest soldier to have been injured in Iraq, was hit by two mortar bombs in Basra, which ripped open his stomach and paralysed one of his legs.
To add insult to injury the Royal Green Jackets soldier contracted MRSA twice while undergoing Treatment. Now at 22, Jamie from Kingswood, has found 2 new job as logistics manager at Hovabout a hovercraft company in Burnham-on-Sea But, to get the training he needed to undertake the role.he was put on a five-day course in Staverton funded by Rugby for Heroes.Jamie said “|Without the funding, I wouldn’t have been able to undertake the course and therefore further my career as a health and safety office;”
The teacher training scheme at Lyceus, a training company based at Staverton Airport, was funded by Rugby for Heroes.
The scheme was setup by Q former Gloucester rugby players Anthony Allen and Ryan Lamb who rallied together some of the best players in English Rugby to support servicemen and women.

Jamie’s tutor at Lynoeus, VanessaPollock, said:”The whole class were overwhelmed with his success and I was very pleased for him.” Money raised from the cause will help fund Lynceus education courses to train injured soldiers.
